Work in Progress

“O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand.” - Isaiah 64:8.

There’s something very beautiful and freeing, in knowing that we have a Creator. Who not only formed us in our mothers’ womb but Who cares about the intricate details of our lives.

As Jesus followers, God is at work transforming us from our sin nature, to be healthier. Holy. Healed. Whole.

We are all a work in progress.

As we lean in to know God’s ways, and He reveals to us our true selves, He graciously exposes what’s going on inside us. Let’s face it, we all have inner work to do. We can always get better. Better at how we process.

Better at how we love ourselves and others.

Better at how we communicate.

Better at showing kindness.

Better at processing through reactions of pain, to responses of forgiveness.

We are a work in progress.

Aren’t you so thankful that we don’t have to hide our true selves from God? We don’t have to live in shame before our Creator. He already knows our flaws, but because of His love for us is constantly willing to renew us. To mend us. Repair brokenness. And to set us back on our feet, better and stronger than before.

While He works on us, God reveals things that we can improve on - maybe things we need to rid ourselves of – but these convictions of His Spirit are always to bring about something better. It’s so important that we don’t shove those convictions away or choose not to deal with them. It’s through the molding, mending, and healing work that He’s doing in us, that He’s preparing us and shaping us, strengthening us for our future.

“If anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation” – 2 Corinthians 5:17

“Behold, I am making all things new!” – Revelation 21:5

Our continual transformation is a beautiful thing! despite how it sometimes may feel. But let’s trust Him in the process. Let’s embrace the work that He’s doing in us. His love and grace means that He doesn’t want to leave us in the place we’ve always been, or to settle with doing what we’ve always done. He’s refining us. Renewing us. Making us new.

It’s a new day – process and progress are awaiting us!
