Wonderful Light

“For you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possessions. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for He called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.” – 1 Peter 2:9-10 (NLT)

Isn’t there something so comforting about knowing that we’ve been chosen?

Not only have we been taken notice of, but we’ve been pursued, and claim as God’s own. Because of the finished work of Jesus on the cross, we’ve each been given access directly to the Father like the Old Testament priesthood had. And what an invitation to walk in – a life full of goodness and light!

While in a moment we can become citizens of Heaven with our decision to follow Jesus, we have the privilege to live out the rest of our earthly lives sharing the result with others around us, of how God called us out of darkness into His wonderful light. We’re living, breathing, examples of this amazing news. We get to show off His transformational power that has changed (or is changing) every facet of our lives. Nothing is off-limits with God – He’s at work within us making all things new and redeeming all of us.

So be encouraged today!

Keep seeking God.

Keep searching out His Word and applying it to your life.

Keep surrendering to the Holy Spirit as He whispers, nudges, and leads you daily.

Our lives are meant to look different, so let’s embrace the difference of who we’re becoming through the power of Jesus Christ in us. Our thoughts, attitudes, behaviours, priorities and values are going to continually look different from that of how the world operates… and that’s exactly what’s going to make us stand out as a witness to those who don’t yet know Jesus as their Saviour.

The Light in us was never meant to be hidden. Our purpose is to bring the eternal power of Christ’s Spirit that lives inside us, to a lost and broken world. What an honour it is to carry the message of Jesus around with us wherever we go!

Holy Spirit lead our lives today, so others can know the love and grace of Jesus, as we do.
