With All Your Heart

In our quest for satisfaction, we can search the world and come up short every time. But when we turn to seek God we find satisfaction in His presence.

There is nothing like it.

Nothing can compare.

The enemy of our souls will do whatever possible to distract us from entering into time with God… to stop us from having those intimate moments and being filled by His presence and His goodness. And let’s face it – there certainly isn’t a shortage of things to do for our “pleasure”, that fill up our time instead. But true satisfaction is what our hearts long for…

The prophet Jeremiah delivered this message from the LORD: “ You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13)

Seek Me.

With all your heart.

This message from God is bound with a beautiful IF/THEN promise!

IF you seek Me.

With all your heart,

THEN you will find Me.

God’s not playing hide and seek with us, despite how it sounds. It’s not as though He’s trying to hide…hoping we won’t find Him. He values our hearts far too much to play games like that. So, we can take comfort that He’s a lot closer than we think…and than we often feel. He’s actually as close as you can get to someone – scripture is clear that He’s WITH Jesus-followers. His Spirit is WITHIN us. He knows our thoughts and He knows what we’re going to say or what we think before we ever decide to share it with Him. So, it’s not His proximity that stop us from “finding” Him, but how much of our heart we’re willing to commit to seeking Him.

But I love that the Creator of the Universe, the Sustainer of all things, is willing to be found by us…by you…by me.

It makes me think how tender He must know our hearts are. He knows that we long to be satisfied, and we need to realize that He is the only One who could truly ever satisfy our hearts. It’s no wonder we’re told that “Above all else, guard your heart. For everything you do flows from it.” (Proverbs 4:23)

God wants to meet our deepest needs.

And when we seek Him for our heart’s satisfaction, it’s then that we often find rhythm again. He fills our hearts with love, with joy, with peace, hope, kindness, patience…

So let’s seek Him with all our heart. Let’s trust Him with it too. The things of this world we often run to are fleeting and don’t offer what we’re really looking for. Only He can quench the desires that our heart and soul long for.
