“Here is something I am still sure of.
I will see the Lord’s goodness
while I’m still alive.
Wait for the Lord.
Be strong and don’t lose hope.
Wait for the Lord.”
-Psalm 27:13-14 (NIRV)
It’s easy to lose hope in our waiting. But when we wait upon the Lord, waiting is never wasted. I wonder though - during the seasons of time that we’re waiting on God’s goodness to arrive in the midst of our situation – if part of the wait is because He’s working in us to prepare us for His goodness. That when we wait upon Him, trusting Him with our need or request, that He cleanses our heart, addresses issues of our soul, and readies us to be able to handle, with honour and respect, that which He’s soon to entrust to us.
I love how The Passion Translation words it:
“Yet I believe with all my heart that I will see again your goodness, Yahweh, in the land of life eternal! Here’s what I’ve learned through it all: Don’t give up; don’t be impatient; be entwined as one with the Lord. Be brave and courageous, and never lose hope. Yes, keep on waiting- for He will never disappoint you!”
What are you waiting on?
What requests have you been constantly praying about?
May you be encouraged today, not to give up. While the journey may not always be easy, our time spent before the Lord in prayer brings us peace and stirs up in us faith to keep trusting, holding to the knowledge that He desires to give His children good gifts. (ref. Matthew 7:11). Let’s be praying that God would make us brave, and develop a courageous Spirit in us, as we wait upon Him. Let’s declare that we will trust Him fully and know that He will not disappoint us. Amen?
