“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” – Ephesians 6:12
Do you ever feel like you’ve been thrown into a season of torment?
You may be feeling that way, because we’re all in a battle. And if we’re following the ways of the Lord, we can be sure that the enemy of our souls is after us to try and take us out – to stop us from fulfilling the plans, and calling, that God’s placed on our life.
Paul uses the word “struggle” in his letter to the church in Ephesus to teach them of this battle - the spiritual force that is against all Believers. This word struggle literally means “a wrestling match.”
Wise people don’t go into combat unarmed… they take the weapons that are available to them to protect themselves and those who are on their side. The tricky part sometimes, is knowing who is on which side. Though humans may appear to be our foes in the natural realm, in reality they may be under the control of the real enemies – the dark powers that inhabit the unseen realm. One of the deceiving things the enemy does is blind Christians from believing or engaging in the spiritual battle… Afterall, if he has us thinking there isn’t a battle, or thinking that our fight is against other human beings, then we likely won’t be picking up our weapons and taking defensive and offensive action against the war that’s waging in the unseen realm.
The struggle is literally real.
“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” – Ephesians 6:13
The war is raging… and it’s all around us. We’re called to be warriors for the Kingdom of God. Let’s armor-up today… grab our sword, which is the Word of God, and stand our ground against the enemy. Hold your head high, sister, King Jesus reigns victorious and as surely as the sun will rise, one day every knee will bow in reverence to Him.
