“It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
to sing praises to the Most High.
It is good to proclaim Your unfailing love in the morning,
Your faithfulness in the evening,
accompanied by a ten-stringed instrument, a harp,
and the melody of a lyre.
You thrill me, Lord, with all You have done for me!
I sing for joy because of what You have done.
O Lord, what great works You do!
And how deep are Your thoughts.”
- Psalm 92:1-5 (NLT)
Does God thrill you?
When you close your eyes and pause in reflection, does He bring you joy just thinking of Him?
The hope of our salvation is that Jesus came as a baby in order to die on our behalf. That He loved us more than enough, that He would sacrifice His life regardless if we ever chose Him back… He chose us. If our salvation doesn’t bring us joy, doesn’t thrill us with the hope we’ve been given – then I’d venture to say that we don’t fully grasp much of the weight of salvation and our need for Him.
“You thrill me, Lord, with all You have done for me!”
He gave it all for us! John 1:5 describes Christ as the Light that came into the darkness. A darkness that He conquered in His death, all because of His incomprehensible love for us.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16
As we enter this Christmas season, facing all the noise that the world offers us in providing a manufactured version of joy and peace, let’s choose to praise Him instead of being swayed by the distraction of anything else. He is the reason for the hope that we have - His birth, life, death, and resurrection. He is the only Way to receive everlasting life.
So, let’s determine to praise Him for all that He’s done for us. Let’s ask Him to thrill us with the hope that we’ve been given. To stir us up in excitement, that we would delight in Him. Let’s ask Him to give us understanding of all that we have in Him and to turn our hearts into altars of praise. Let’s proclaim His unfailing love each day.
