The War on Truth

“The world is unprincipled. It’s dog-eat-dog out there! The world doesn’t fight fair. But we don’t live or fight our battles that way – never have and never will. The tools of our trade aren’t for marketing or manipulation, but they are for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture. We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ. Our tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity.” – 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 (Message)

A number of years ago now, I heard someone say, “If you don’t know what God says, you’ll believe the lies of the enemy.” This statement stuck with me, and I think of it often when I hear or see the corruption stirred up in the culture of our western world. Certainly, in my lifetime, the war on God’s truth has never been more prevalent than it is today. Even to the point that if you make a stand on Scripture, you’re considered a bigot for not accepting other beliefs as “truth”– even though by default they would be rejecting my belief on the Word of God as being untrue. What a mess! We live in a culture where satan has had a hay-day in twisting words, twisting love, and of course, twisting Truth.

So how do we stand in a culture that desires us to bow to the demands of the world’s standards instead of God’s?

“We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments.” – 2 Corinthians 10:4 (NLT)

More than ever, as followers of Jesus, we need to have our souls yielded to Him. Our mind, will, and emotions surrendered to the work of the Holy Spirit in us. Our lives given with reckless abandon to the One Who gave His life for us, hiding the Word of God in our heart and filling our mind with His Truth, so that we know the difference between what the world is speaking and what God has said. For those that seek His Truth, we’ll find it… it’s a promise that we can cling to each and every day. (ref. Jeremiah 29:13)

May we be women who do not fall/succumb/bow to the ways of the world, but may we rise up with Truth on our lips because we have been with Jesus. Changed by Him – His Word, and His Spirit in us.
