I could pray out of the Psalms every day. I love how it teaches us to build our prayer life upon the revelation of God’s nature and character and emphasizes us to mirror in ourselves God’s ways.
In Psalm 86:11 David prays, “Teach me your way, LORD, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.”
Have you ever thought what a great quality being teachable is? If someone is teachable, they have a genuine willingness to learn…and they realise that they’re never done.
What would you have me do, God?
What am I here for?
What’s my purpose?
These are the great questions laid deep in every person’s heart.
To not just hear His ways, but to live His ways.
To act His ways.
To think His ways.
To speak His ways.
When our soul is in great need, questions arise to the surface. The healing balm seems to be to seek the Divine’s will in order to obey it, and get our life aligned with His. An urgent plea…to unite our heart with His.
Our life then becomes a living declaration when we walk in step with Him. Our hearts aligned with His – like a union of marriage where we are one, laying down our own ways to operate fully in His. Living in reverence to Him. Bringing our whole heart to Him in worship. With no outward distraction that can hinder us from praising His name or interfering with us following our supreme purpose.
To live like this requires teachability.
And unfortunately, it’s not common in our culture…but that shouldn’t stop us.
“Lord would you give us the desire to be teachable. That we would continually come before you willing to learn your ways. Show us what you would have us do. Unify our heart with Yours, that we would delight in your ways fully and completely, so we can worship you with all that we are. Amen.”
