Starting and Ending

“It is good to say thank you to the Lord, to sing praises to the God who is above all gods. Every morning tell Him, “Thank you for your kindness,” and every evening rejoice in all His faithfulness.” – Psalm 92:1-2 (TLB)

Have you noticed that how we start our day, often is the footing for how the rest of the day plays out? How we start is important!

A heart of gratitude doesn’t just happen. It takes being determined to reflect on where we see God at work. Where His characteristics are evident and where we see His acts of grace and mercy are intertwined in our daily living. Every good thing in our life is from Him and He deserves all the praise for showering us with kindness. What a great way to start the day – thankful!

I love how this verse considers how we end our day as well. God’s dependability in being Who He is – the consistency of Who He’s always been – Sovereign overall, knowing the end from the beginning, every detail in between, and holding all things under His control even when they don’t make sense to us. Our God is Faithful. Even on the hardest of days we can trust Him. We can look at His character and examine His ways and believe that He is Faithful and trustworthy to carry us through whatever lays ahead. So, we can rejoice each evening as He’s done just that… brought us through another day, to the safety of our own pillow to lay our heads down on at night.

The beautiful thing about the practice of starting and ending well, is that each new day is a new opportunity to exercise our gratitude and praise.

Let’s start well and end well today, dear friends!
