Secured in His Hands

“Do not be afraid. I am with you.

Do not be terrified. I am your God.

I will make you strong and help you.

I will hold you safe in my hands.

I always do what is right.”

- Isaiah 41:10 (NIRV)

Do you struggle with fear? Terrified by a circumstance that you’re in? Contending with anxiety, foreboding, panic and extensive worry? You’re not alone in the battle.

The root of all fear is a lie of the enemy. The devil wants us to believe that we’re alone in our situation and that there’s no way out from being consumed by the oppression of fear. Fear cripples us and makes us immobile from moving in the freedom that Jesus paid for on our behalf.

“God gave us His Spirit. And the Spirit doesn’t make us weak and fearful. Instead, the Spirit gives us power and love. He helps us control ourselves.” – 2 Timothy 1:7 (NIRV)

In the face of the battle of fear we need to call out the lies – taking the thoughts captive. To expose that those thoughts and feelings are not from our Good God. Where fear is present, peace cannot reign and we need God’s peace that passes all understanding. God’s peace that covers and calms us when we face unknowns or are walking through challenges that scare us. If we focus on Who is in control, and Who’s hands we’re protected in, then our perspective changes to address the fear head on. (Not always easy, I know!)

Let’s be praying Scripture over ourselves, personalizing the words while we’re under the attack of fear.

I will not be afraid, for God is with me.

I will not be terrified. You are my God.

God will make me strong and help me.

I am secure in God’s hands.

And God is always right.

I have been given the Holy Spirit,

Which doesn’t make me weak or fearful.

God has not given me a spirit of fear.

God has given the Spirit that gives me power, love and self-control.

Amen.
