“For I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from His love. Death can’t, and life can’t. The angels won’t, and all the powers of hell itself cannot keep God’s love away. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, or where we are – high above the sky, or in the deepest ocean – nothing will ever be able to separate us from the love of God demonstrated by our Lord Jesus Christ when He died for us.”
– Romans 8:38-39 (ESV)
Are you truly convinced of this?
It’s one of the greatest schemes of the enemy, to persuade us that we’ve lost favour or love from God in some way. When we’re facing some form of hardship, that’s when the rubber hits the road as to whether we’re actually convinced that despite our circumstance we can never escape Christ’s love for us. Are we going to believe what He’s promised?
If today, you need a heavy dose of reassurance, know that not only have we been given a promise, but we’ve been sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit. “His presence within us is God’s guarantee that He really will give us all that He promised; and the Spirit’s seal upon us means that God has already purchased us and that He guarantees to bring us to Himself. This is just one more reason for us to praise our glorious God.” – Ephesians 1:13-14
Here’s the thing: we can do the groundwork now, to train our mind with Truth, for the future. When we come to those seasons of life where we’re wading in the darkness of a valley, our mind doesn’t have to bend to what it sees but can remain strong in our faith in spite of the situation around us. It’s in the mountaintop experiences where we can make effort to soak in the presence of God’s Word and His Spirit, pondering it all up in our hearts. We train now, to renew our minds later when we’re under the pressures of this world and the spiritual war that is relentless against us.
Let’s be women who don’t lose hold of the promise of love when we’re not feeling loved in the moment, circumstance or season. Let’s choose to hide Truth in our heart and mind, so that we’re equipped and guarded for the future, ready to stand and hold the ground that we’ve been given. What if we allowed God to fuel our faith and order our minds with His Truth, so that we lived our lives on the foundation of the promise of His love for us!
May I encourage you to pick a verse of scripture before the week is over and work at memorizing it. Let’s allow God’s Word to take root, truly taking to heart how personal it is from Him to us.
