Sometimes it’s the simplest things that help us bring a healthier perspective to our day. As a child I learned the song, “My God is so Big.” Are you familiar with it?
My God is so big, so strong and so mighty
There’s nothing my God cannot do…
How often we over-complicate things and lose sight of just how awesome He is.
No person so lost that He can’t restore.
No heart so damaged He cannot mend.
No problem too big for Him to work out.
He made the trees
He made the seas
He made the elephants too
My God is so big, so strong and so mighty
There’s nothing my God cannot do…
The mountains are His
The rivers are His
The stars are His handy work too
There’s nothing my God cannot do…
“O Sovereign LORD! You made the heavens and earth by Your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for You!” – Jeremiah 32:17
What great hope we have, that we can seek refuge under the shelter and power of a God that created all things, and where nothing is too hard for Him.
As we seek putting Him first in our day, may we trust Him in all areas of our life. Holding loosely to the control that we can often cling so tightly to (at least I do), and with open hands surrender to trusting God with what’s next.
As His children, we have the privilege to come to Him, bearing our hearts before Him; expressing our needs, our wants, our praises, our hurts, our tears, our heartaches…everything. It’s not that He doesn’t already know it, but will we trust Him with it? Do we think He can’t handle it? Or that He’ll change His mind if He knew our secrets or our mistakes?
He is our loving Father… He saves, forgives, restores, redeems, corrects, disciplines, heals, and through His Spirit continually draws us to the likeness of His Son Jesus.
What a God we serve… that He would care for each of us!
So big.
So strong.
So mighty.
