Open Wide

“For it was I, the LORD your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it with good things.” - Psalm 81:10

Many times the people of Israel were reminded about when they were slaves in Egypt – helping to bring their perspective back to WHO rescued them out of that captivity.

We all need reminders in our life.

Maybe on the surface it seems like a far stretch to relate to the Israelites experience while they were enslaved. However, when we reflect to a time when we were enslaved to ourselves – our time before being a Jesus follower – we can start to see a correlation.

What’s been your Egypt?

When have you been in a situation that held you back from who God wanted you to be?

God is the one who can break all chains.

He is our Freedom-maker! Releasing us from the confines of sin and delivering us to a place of peace and rest.

God is faithful in doing what He said He would do. He always provides a way out of our own ‘Egypts’. He always has an open door ready; a path that’s lit-up to draw us out. He’s committed to showing us love and provision to complete His mission for humanity. He wants to restore us.

Open your mouth wide…

It’s a command.

It depicts several things for us…

First, our dependency needs to rely on Him alone.

Next, our walk with God is dependant on our trust – do we believe that He’ll do what He says He will do?

It also requires obedience on our part.

Open your mouth wide and I will fill it…

It’s a command. But it’s also a promise!

God wants to satisfy us. He wants to sustain us. He doesn’t hold back from those He loves. He is relentless at bringing us the purest nourishment.

Open your mouth wide and I will fill it with good things!

It’s a command. A promise. And a blessing!

God desire is to bless us. Ultimately, He knows what’s best for us – that’s why He provides us with an exodus in the first place. Beyond being our Saviour – He is the True-Life-giver!

So, if you find yourself in your own ‘Egypt’, take heart and know that God has planned your exodus – for you to become more of who He wants you to become! Trust Him, and be prepared for His blessing as you open up your life wide to Him!

“Lord, here I am. I will open my mouth wide and I know you will fill it with good things. Amen.”
