New Strength

“Because the Lord is my Shepherd, I have everything I need!

He lets me rest in the meadow grass and leads me beside the quiet streams. He gives me new strength. He helps me do what honours Him the most.

Even when walking through the dark valley of death I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me, guarding, guiding all the way.

You provide delicious food for me in the presence of my enemies. You have welcomed me as your guest; blessings overflow!

Your goodness and unfailing kindness shall be with me all of my life, and afterwards I will live with you forever in your home.” – Psalm 23 (TLB)

The promises woven throughout Psalm 23 are so beautiful and comforting. I hope they are an encouragement to you today.

We can get so distracted by the headaches and frustrations of life, that our eyes can, at times, be blinded to see that we actually have all that we need in Jesus. With Jesus being Lord over our lives, His Spirit will lead us to the exact place that we need to be, providing all that we need.

What stands out to me today, is the promise of new strength. I’ve learned that rest is such a vital part of the life of a disciple. That when we heed to the Holy Spirit’s direction to pause and rest in Him. It’s in those times or even seasons, where He binds up our hearts. He tends to our brokenness. He ministers to our soul, restoring truth and love and comfort to our mind, will, and emotions. He delivers us from the fear and weariness that have entangled us, and then He empowers us with His strength to get back up and keep going. New strength to stand on. New strength to be confident in. New strength to go in what direction honours Him most, regardless of what others around us have to say about it. New strength that leads us into His goodness and unfailing kindness. New strength that leads us to new blessings. What an amazing and intimate God we serve!

What promises from this passage stand out to you the most?

And how will you take them with you into your day?
