“I lift up my eyes to the mountains –
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord.
the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip –
He who watches over you will not slumber;
Indeed, He who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you –
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm –
He will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.” – Psalm 121
The name above every other name. The One who doesn’t slumber or sleep… YAHWEH – the name that is revered to be so sacred that many Jews will not speak it, but instead will call “Adonai” or “Lord”.
This…this is the One Who is my helper?
This is where my help comes from?
What assurance and hope flows from Him!
My Helper.
My Maker.
My Protector.
My Keeper.
My Shelter.
My Guard.
My Watcher.
Forever?
Forever.
It’s a promise without an expiration date.
Over my entire life?
Over my entire life.
Over my coming and my going?
Yes!
Both now and forevermore?
Without exception – Day and Night. Night and Day.
What an amazing God we worship and praise! That He would love us so much to intimately know us and care for us in all the ways we so desperately need. He alone is where our help comes from. He alone is where true life comes from. He alone is our eternal promise to never leave us or forsake us.
May this be a reminder, but also our prayer for today: My help comes from You, Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth!
You are so worthy of all our praise. I love You and praise You God!
Amen.
