Living Truly

"We will lovingly follow the truth at all times – speaking truly, dealing truly, living truly – and so become more and more in every way like Christ who is the Head of His body, the Church. Under His direction, the whole body is fitted together perfectly, and each part in its own special way helps the other parts, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.” – Ephesians 4:15-16 (TLB)

Healthy, growing and full of love. Doesn’t that sound like the perfect motto for a family?

The family of God is so unique. Not boxed in to one denomination or another, but full of people who have received Jesus as their personal Saviour, and who are living truly through the work of Christ’s Spirit in their lives. All kinds of personalities, all kinds of giftings, each uniquely purposed to work for the Kingdom of God. While far from perfect, God’s family is a beautiful picture of the wholeness we can have in Him. Each of us important, valued, and worthy of being a part of the family.

What keeps us each healthy, growing, and full of love (both individually and corporately) is when we strive to become more and more like Christ. Heeding to His Words and His Spirit, we can’t help but grow and journey through the process of maturing as a child of God. Leaning on His Truth – the Word of God – in order to truly live out God’s best for us.

“Oh, dear Lord, make the Church just like You. Form us into Your likeness. Purify us. Change us. Guide us to the paths You have for us. Make us healthy. Keep us growing in our faith-walk with You. Give us hearts full of love that lead us into acts of love, words of love, and sacrifices of love. Prepare Your Bride so she’s ready for You. Holy Spirit fill us with Your presence and power. And Father God, start with me. In Jesus’ name, Amen!”
