Living Letters

“You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone. You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. “

– 2 Corinthians 3:2-3

What a beautiful concept to think of. What a grand collection of letters we are, that compile the great works of God - showing His love to all of humanity, as He pursues us and looks to include us in His love story.

What an amazing responsibility He’s given us to be living testimonies of the unseen God.

We are His plan.

We are His mission.

Have you thought about what kind of letter has been written about you so far? This type of question sends me to deep inner work, and self-reflection. What kind of letter – testimony – has my life shown so far to those around me?

Jesus never meant for Christianity to be a systemized or franchised way of life. However, in the western world that is unfortunately how it’s commonly portrayed.

But we can play a part in changing that – living letters that are committed to… love God with all that we are. And love others as sacrificially as Jesus loved us.

Our worship is the authentic expression of our love and adoration for God. Loving Him with our entire soul, all our heart, our whole mind and every ounce of our strength. This kind of love and worship of Him is also a witness to others of our passion and commitment to our God.

Our lives can be the greatest letters of love shared with those around us and can have eternal significance as they observe how we worship and love.

So, as we head into the weekend let’s remember our letters are still being written. May they speak of the greatness of our God and the boldness of His love in and through us.
