Lasting Comfort

There’s not a day that goes by where satan isn’t at work to trap us and destroy the security and worth we have. Fear and anxiety are some of his greatest tactics to keep us trapped and immobile. He tricks us so often into looking to find our value, worth, and validation in what we can accomplish, what we can buy, who we’re associated with, or how we can make a name for ourselves. If he can keep us focused inward on ourselves, we fail to center our gaze on Christ.

So how do we win the battle of the mind, when tactics like these are coming at us? Acknowledging what is Truth, believing it, and claiming it will help us to know what isn’t truth. This first step will help the spiralling thoughts to stop.

Acknowledging our need for Jesus is so important. Not just what He’s done for us at the cross, but what He is currently doing for us.

The author of the book of Hebrews tells us, “For God has said, ‘I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.’ So we can say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper, so I will have no fear.’ “ – Hebrews 13:5-6

There’s comfort in knowing that regardless of whatever battle we’re currently facing, we’re not alone. The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus holds a lasting comfort for all humanity who are willing to set their gaze upon Him. Our comfort, safety, security, value, worth, and validation are found in Jesus and wrapped up in His Truth and Love. And we can cling to the promises of His Words, which always produce what they set out to do. (ref. Isaiah 55:11)

He is always with us.

He will never fail us.

He won’t abandon us.

He is our helper.

He dispels fear with His presence and Truth.

May we be women who fervently and repeatedly claim God’s life-giving and healing words over our lives. Whenever we speak God’s word out loud, we sow seeds that produce a harvest in us. We grow stronger in Him because of it. Let’s hold tightly to this lasting comfort today.

Responsive Prayer:

“Lord, I believe that You are with me and holding me, when satan wants me to feel alone and isolated in my fear and anxiety. I trust You Lord, that You will lift my head to bring my gaze to Truth and away from my circumstance. Transform my mind to stand on Your promises. My comfort, safety, security, value, worth, and validation are from You alone. May my heart delight to believe Your Truth and Love and to walk in it, keeping my eyes set on what Jesus has done for me, and continues to do in and through me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
