“For you have a new life. It was not passed on to you from your parents, for the life they gave you will fade away. This new one will last forever, for it comes from Christ, God’s ever-living Message to men. Yes, our natural lives will fade as grass does when it becomes all brown and dry. All our greatness is like a flower that droops and falls; but the Word of the Lord will last forever. And His message is the Good News that was preached to you.”
– 1 Peter 1:23-25 (TLB)
Everything in this world that we could possess, strive to achieve or become, is fleeting when compared to eternity. But a new life - an abundant life - is waiting for all who receive Jesus as their Saviour. Born again into a life through Jesus – the incorruptible Word which became flesh and came to earth. Putting skin on, He lived so that He could die as payment for the sin of all humanity, which in turn made possible, eternal life with Him.
He gives us a new identity. He calls us His own. Loves us unconditionally. This new life that will never be taken from us. Nothing in all creation, in heaven or on earth will ever be able to separate us from Him, from now through all of eternity. (ref. Romans 8:39)
Through His Word and His Spirit in us, He restores hearts and renews minds to true living. We begin to see purpose beyond ourselves, and our words, actions and desires change to point others toward Jesus. Where we focus on the eternal instead of the temporal.
What a Beautiful Life!
Thank you, Father, for choosing me as Your child. Thank you for Jesus and for the cross, and the empty grave. Thank you for the new life I have in Him, born again of the incorruptible seed of the Word of God which lives and abides forever. Forgiven and restored to You from now until all eternity. Give me an eternal focus that is aligned with Your Word and Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
