“But as for me, I will be on the watch for the Lord;
I will wait for the God of my Salvation.
My God will hear me.” – Micah 7:7
The promise of the coming Messiah had been spoken by God through the prophets for centuries. The people of God heard these words – and through faith, they hoped. In the waiting they recounted what God had done for them in the past and believed He would indeed provide for them again. But in the waiting we’re often combatted with weariness….have you ever experienced that before?
Weary in the waiting. Where silence strains against the grasp of what we’re clinging on to.
I can imagine that the Jewish people knew that strain well. Desperately hoping for the promised King to come soon… day after day, passing with continued silence.
What are you waiting on God for, this Christmas season?
Like many, maybe you resonate with it being a hard, long and drawn-out year… waiting for some kind of redemption of all that’s gone on. For renewed hope. For restored normalcy. For something good, in this time of limbo…and waiting.
We can be sure of this - waiting is never wasted when our focus is on God.
It’s through the waiting that He’s preparing us. Pruning us – hoping to remove the excess of everything that will take our focus away from Him alone and His desires for us... His best for us! He facilitates the seasons and moves at just the right time. Not our time… but His!
So if we can’t control the timing, and we can’t control the out-come. We’re left with simply what we do while we wait. Will we reflect on what He’s done, Who He is, and what He’s saying to us… who He’s creating us to be… so that when this season comes to pass, we are ready for what He’s prepared for us?
May you find the strength, no matter how long you’ve been waiting or how difficult this season has been, to realize that He is for you, He is faithful, and He is with you in the waiting.
Let's be on the watch for what He's doing in the waiting.
He is the God of our Salvation and He hears the cries of our heart.
