Ever feel not good enough? Maybe you have co-workers who make comments that make you feel that way. Or maybe a family member who has used language that makes you feel less-than. Not smart enough. Undervaluing who you are. Maybe the voices that spur-on this negative feeling comes from within your own head. When we don’t feel good enough, we can remain at a standstill from future growth; when we start to believe those lies we can back away from the good that we were created for.
The source of such negativity is the enemy himself. While we have a heavenly Father who is constantly drawing us into His goodness and revealing Himself in ways to us that are recreating us into His likeness, we also have a real-life enemy who is doing whatever possible to combat the good God has created us for.
Satan’s language is manipulative and deceptive.
He whispers lies in our ears.
He uses others to twist the truth about us, and rots our reputation.
He schemes with those willing to cower to his devices and destroys relationships.
As a result he kills our self-worth, if we let his voice remain prominent in our lives.
In John 10:10, we’re told that “[satan’s] purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. [Christ’s] purpose is to give us a rich and satisfying life.”
Christ’s purpose is to save and bring abundant life to all who will believe and receive, and His mission will continue until the whole world hears. In the same way, satan will not stop his mission to steal, kill, and destroy. Does it sound like an action film battling good against evil? Well it kind of is, except this is all too real. We’re in the battle alright, and the glorious part that those who follow Jesus get to cling to, is that God wins! It’s not a mystery to what the end will hold - He wins! Which means we can stand victorious on the promises of Truth that we’ve been given. We are good enough! We are valued with purpose and passion and with a mission to go into all the earth to share the good news.
“Satan, you may want me to feel like I’m not good enough, to stop me from believing God’s truth. You may have used that person’s words to send destruction to my heart, but you will not prevail. Because I am a daughter of the King of kings, who has a purpose, and will stand on the truth when you desire to make me cower to be less than who God’s called me to be. God wins and I stand confident on His Word, and who He’s called me to be. I will not reduce myself to be less than who I’m created to be.”
What does that sound like? Something like this…
“Satan, you may want me to feel like I’m not good enough, to stop me from believing God’s truth.
When you feel less than, God sees more. He sees you as more than good enough!
How are you doing in the fight of this “not good enough” battle?
