“Be glad for all God is planning for you. Be patient in trouble and prayerful always.”
– Romans 12:12
Aren’t you so glad that God has a plan specifically for you?
Somehow that in itself brings so much relief amongst the unknowns in my life. While not everything is ordained by Him, what we experience and walk through can always, in some way, have good drawn out of it. I’ve seen more clearly in recent years that the good, often, is what is produced inside us as we surrender to Him as He carries us through it all. God’s plans are always good. While good, they aren’t always easily laid out for us. Sometimes they require long stretches of obedience, and to be patient, as we journey through the road before us.
Our greatest hope will always be found in Him. And so, in the discouraging moments that spring up, may we be reminded that our hope stands on God, and in Him His plan for us will absolutely be good.
If you’re in a waiting season for seeing some of the plans of God to be revealed or come to fruition in your life, we have a part to play while we wait. This verse reveals three commands to us.
Be glad.
Be patient.
Be prayerful.
This is how we worship God in the waiting. While we wait, we praise Him. We exercise patience as we trust Him with the promise that His ways are better than our ways, that He has plans for us, and that they’re good. We pray continually, believing that Jesus alone is our lifeline, and through His Spirit in us we pray, we listen, we wait, and we step out in faith when directions are revealed.
We wait because God’s ‘good’ is better than any other. We wait because the world offers a false sense of goodness, in the quick-fixes and instant-gratifications that can never live up to that which a Holy, All-Knowing, God can provide for us and through us. His plans are worth the wait, because He is good.
