“God has told us His secret reason for sending Christ, a plan He decided on in mercy long ago; and this was His purpose: that when the time is ripe He will gather us all together from wherever we are – in Heaven or on Earth – to be with Him in Christ forever. Moreover, because of what Christ has done, we have become gifts to God that He delights in, for as part of God’s sovereign plan we were chosen from the beginning to be His, and all things happened just as He decided long ago.” – Ephesians 1:9-11 (TLB)
The more I study God’s Word, the more I’m convinced that God loves to celebrate. He is a God that gives good gifts. He loves us so well. The gift of Salvation is for all, not limited to certain people, but for all who would receive the free gift He offers to them. And while His plan came through the nation of Israel, the mystery of His full plan was revealed through Jesus’ death and resurrection. His life was given so no one would have to perish – Jew or Gentile. The gift of Salvation was for the whole world.
While God gave us the greatest gift that He ever could: Jesus. To be ransomed for our sin. To be delivered and walk-in freedom. Yet we see that, “we have been gifts to God that He delights in”.
He delights in us!
He celebrates us!
What an amazing God we serve!
What if we determined to be the bests gifts to God that we could be? What if we loved and adored Him the way He loves and adores us? What if we trusted Him fully with our destiny and our entire lives? Living dependant on His Word and His Spirit and flourishing with joy because we have aligned ourselves with His plans and we’re positioned each day to do what He puts in front of us. Wouldn’t that be the best gift we could offer back to Him? Wouldn’t that be the best way that we could honour Him with our lives?
God chose us, long before we could ever choose Him back. He’s positioned us exactly where He wants us, in the sphere of influence He gave us, with the talents and gifts He’s given us to be a gift to this generation. Our lives are a gift for the Kingdom of God, to accomplish His good works. So let’s do this today - live as a gift-offering to God!
