“And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” – 2 Corinthians 3:18 (ESV)
There’s a sacredness that we behold as followers of Jesus – the Spirit of Christ in us. The intimacy we cultivate with the Holy Spirit is where change happens. Such an amazing gift, with many facets. The transformation process that is continually at work, where the Holy Spirit is drawing us, guiding us and forming us into the likeness of Jesus. A beautiful journey of experiencing His glory, from one degree to another.
While we all likely wish that this process happened instantaneously, the reality is that it takes a lifetime – a lifetime of surrendering to His Spirit and embracing the ever-increasing glory of Who God truly is. Receiving the revelation of Truth and being changed by it. God promises that one day, we will achieve that full transformation into possessing the qualities of the image of Christ.
“Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but He has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like Him, for we will see Him as He really is. And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as He is pure.” – 1John 3:2-3
When we submit to the transformation process, with a heart’s cry of “more of You Jesus, and less of me,” we begin to understand what God is preparing us for, and also what He’s preparing for us. There’s always purpose to the sanctification that we journey through, and the revelation of being who He sees us as… who He’s called us to be.
As we behold the glory of God, our heart changes. Our mind changes. Our desires. Words. Actions. From Glory to Glory, we become like Jesus.
