“I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
That I would see the goodness of the Lord
In the land of the living.” – Psalm 27:13
Have you ever wrestled through a situation where you had the perspective to acknowledge that if it wasn’t for Jesus you wouldn’t make it through what you were facing?
For me this has been half the battle. If my perspective is fixed on Jesus through the difficulties of life, I’m able to embrace the season, striving to see what God wants me to see in it, rather than kicking and screaming and resisting through it. Obviously, it’s not always an easy thing to have a positive perspective. Let’s face it, it’s more natural, and certainly easier, to focus on the problem or circumstance that you’re warring through.
God’s Word promises goodness. Goodness isn’t only held for eternity but is promised to us in the here and now. How quickly we would lose heart if we didn’t have a loving Father Who desired to give good gifts to His children?
“Wait on the Lord;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord!” – Psalm 27:14
It takes courage to wait on God and His timing – to trust that He’ll see us through the trials and tribulations that we face. It takes patience and surrender for Him to have access to all of our heart, so that He can strengthen us, preparing us fully for what’s to come on the other side of the battle – and also the goodness that He has in store for us.
I want to encourage you today, to focus on Jesus, so that you don’t lose heart. To meditate on His Word. To allow Him to be central in all of your life. Let’s embrace the season that we’re in, because He’s in it with us. His kindness and love will never stop guiding and directing us to what’s best for us, and He will never stop equipping us for the goodness that He’s prepared in advance for us.
