I don’t know about you, but I’m so thankful that I’m not the person I was a year ago. I am grateful for that woman and the work that she did to get to the point she was at, and I’m thankful that she wasn’t at the point in 2020 as she was at in 2019... I’m thankful growth is a continual process and as we seek Jesus and the leading of His Spirit, that He is continually changing us by His grace.
Each new season with Jesus allows us to reflect on where He’s brought us to, and where He’s delivered us from. Where He’s changed our hearts to desire less of ourselves and more of Him.
With eyes opened to His ways, He’s able to cut away the falsities of our belief system that were never intended to be part of His design in the first place. And we see things in a new light as He graciously brings clarification. As we trust Him, He’s able to reaffirm in us the strength of His pure and true foundation that we can continue to count on. From there we can continue to hold confidence in Him, continue to hope, and continue to trust Him with whatever He has for us next.
“And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ’s return.” – Philippians 1:9-10 NKJV
I don’t have a ‘word’ for 2021. I don’t have a resolution. Just this verse as a prayer… that God would continue to open my eyes to His ways. His love. His knowledge and discernment. That in January 2022, I can reflect on what He’s done in me and love how He’s changed me from who I am today. That’s one of His amazing promises – that He who began a good work in us will continue to work in us until Jesus returns. (ref. Philippians 1:6)
May we be women who love like Christ loves, and who seek His knowledge, wisdom and discernment. So that we would be able to distinguish what His best is for us. And instead of pursuing what is adequate, we could separate what is good from what is best and run after that, as He leads us…with our eyes wide open.
