When we’re in the midst of a less-than enjoyable circumstance, walking through something painful, it’s easy for our situation to consume our minds, and take up all our thinking capacity.
That can be so draining.
Anyone else feeling weary? Needing their strength replenished?
As Jesus followers, we have a unique hope that we can lean on. Draw on. That provides the where-with-all to keep on keeping on.
“…but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” – Isaiah 40:31 (ESV)
And if you’ve been around church for a while, you maybe know this, but it’s almost always easier to say than live-out.
Even when we’re walking through a difficult season, if our eyes are fixed on Jesus and we wait on Him, we can be encouraged. We can be filled with replenished strength. Our weariness fades and the load becomes lighter.
The problem is when we choose to remain focused on our situation / pain / circumstance, instead of keeping our eyes set on the Giver of Life who can carry us through any circumstance. With our focus amiss, instead of drawing closer to our God-given purpose, we move towards our frustration, pain, and our emotions can run amok.
It sounds so unrealistic to “embrace” the season / situation / circumstance that we find ourselves in if it’s riddled with pain, but if our go-to view is consistently taking everything to Jesus, and we keep our focus on Him, it’s far easier to be able to have a kingdom focus in and through it all.
Waiting for God to move can weigh on our emotions, when God’s timing isn’t our timing. But waiting with Hope is the needed change in perspective that makes all the difference.
I want to encourage you today to stay the course and keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, as you wait for Him in whatever circumstance you find yourself in. God is faithful…when we are weary and feel faint, He lifts us up, He carries us through the marathon of life…He allows us to soar in the comfort of His presence.
Let’s focus on Christ today, and be encourage in our Spirits by the renewed strength that He alone can give.
