Jesus was matter-of-fact: “Embrace this God-life. Really embrace it, and nothing will be too much for you. This mountain, for instance: Just say, ‘Go jump in the lake’—no shuffling or hemming and hawing—and it’s as good as done. That’s why I urge you to pray for absolutely everything, ranging from small to large. Include everything as you embrace this God-life, and you’ll get God’s everything. And when you assume the posture of prayer, remember that it’s not all asking. If you have anything against someone, forgive—only then will your heavenly Father be inclined to also wipe your slate clean of sins.” - Mark 11:22-25 (Msg)
I love reading The Message paraphrase for many reasons, but this section really struck me on how much Jesus really emphasized ‘being all in.’ He is our provision for life, equipping us for all we will journey through in the seen and unseen. His love is the firm foundation that we can embrace with every single bit of our being… mind, body, soul.
God doesn’t see limitations as we see them with our human minds, but instead has made a path for all to be possible if we would trust Him. (ref. Matthew 19:26). When we come to stand in front of the mountains of life, it’ll be by our belief in Him and the power of His name, that we can watch those mountains tremble and diminish before our very eyes. The wishy-washy mindset will get us nowhere. It’s by faith that we will stand through the trials and troubles of life.
That’s the kind of faith I ask God for. That He would make me bold in my belief of Him, that with each passing day, as I embrace this God-life, that He would strengthen my confidence in Him. As I surrender my ways to His ways, in the intimacy of my time alone with Him, that He would build in me a voice that roars when it really counts. That through the posture of surrender and prayer, I would know His heart and find comfort in the security that He knows the full scope of mine.
With every ounce of my life, I choose to embrace it – this life He has for me! To lay down my fears and all of my doubt, and to say yes in communion with Him… whatever is next, Lord take me there! Let’s embrace it together!
