Dwell Richly

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” – Colossians 3:16

There is a life-giving invitation that God has waiting for each of us, daily, in His Word. It’s more than just words on a page. It’s more than just a collection of stories. It’s an eternally-binding, soul-awakening, personal love letter that continually speaks to us.

When we read Scripture and invite the Holy Spirit to lead us, not only does He open us up to a deep well of revelation about Who God is, but He also shows us who we truly are. It’s in those intimate times in His presence and His Word, where we get a glimpse into the mysteries of Heaven and begin to understand our purpose on earth in a whole new light.

God’s Word is rich!

Quenching our thirst.

Stirring us to rejoice and reflect.

Drawing us to the treasures of His promises.

Igniting passion in us to fulfill His plans and purposes.

Allowing us to feast on His Truth and helping to rid us from the schemes and lies that our enemy is trying to trap us in.

His Word breaks us from all prisons and shows us the pathway to freedom.

God desires to refresh us each day by His love, His Word, and His presence. So that we have the faith and perseverance to keep moving. To keep drawing the next breath. To keep living.

God never meant for us to do life on our own, that’s why He gave us His Word and His Spirit to live by. But it’s up to us to choose whether we’ll allow His Word and His Spirit to dwell in us. To dwell in His Word is more than the knowledge of His Truth, but for us to align ourselves with it. To be changed by it, for our good. To revere the authority of the Scriptures and the power by which they were breathed and penned. Believing, yielding and trusting the Word and the Spirit in us, is what makes us come fully alive.

I desire to dwell richly in Him. How about you? I don’t want to miss out on anything that He has planned for me. So, today I’m praying Colossians 3:16 as a prayer.

“Father, let the Word of Christ Jesus, my Saviour, dwell in me richly. Pour out Your wisdom on me. Teach me in all of Your ways. Counsel me in the way I should go. Let Your words ever be on my lips - in song, in praise, in encouragement - and holding onto every Truth. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
