“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But [s]he who fears has not been made perfect in love.” - 1 John 4:18 (NKJV)
Have you noticed how fear makes our world smaller?
Fear cripples and torments us. Consuming our mind and emotions with the worst-case scenarios, stressing over our future, and hindering us from walking in the freedom that Jesus desires for us to live in. Fear strives to convince us that what’s playing out in our mind and body is the reality that we’re actually in – when in reality that is a complete lie!
Love open us up to a world of possibilities! We can journey through anything with the Presence and Love of Jesus always with us. Love brings freedom. Love delivers us from evil. Love restores, redeems and shows us things we never could’ve comprehended before. Love is just that good! The perfect love of Jesus eliminates all dread of the unknowns and shows us how His love can be perfected in us to trust Him in every single circumstance – every single day.
I love the words of The Message translation:
“God is love. When we take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us. This way, love has the run of the house, becomes at home and mature in us, so that we’re free of worry on Judgment Day—our standing in the world is identical with Christ’s. There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life—fear of death, fear of judgment—is one not yet fully formed in love.”
“There is no room in love for fear!” Can I hear an ‘Amen’ on that?!
Dear sister, you are dearly and perfectly loved by an All-Knowing, consuming God. Jesus is the embodiment of love, given completely for you that you do not have to live under fear. Let’s not walk constantly afraid, but let’s allow the love of Christ to dwell in us richly, so that we can be fully formed by His love, dispelling fear’s grip on us. Let’s remember when we start to feel anxious or afraid, that the spirit of fear has not been given to us by God (2 Timothy 1:7), and let’s actively choose to trust the Spirit of Love given to each of us in the gift of the Holy Spirit. We are never alone, we never will be, and we never have to agree with a voice that tells us otherwise. Let’s let Love fill us to overflowing!
