Deliverer

“When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the broken-hearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” – Psalm 34:17-19 (ESV)

Some days feel just devastating when learning of the injustices that are publicized in the media. Along with that, comes the overwhelming feeling of “what can I possibly do to help?”. But as the Church, we have power in prayer, that sadly often goes greatly unutilized.

Prayer moves mountains.

Prayer shifts verdicts in the courtroom of Heaven.

Prayer brings deliverance.

God has empowered His Church, through the Holy Spirit, to trust Him as our Deliverer. Prayer rooted in faith that stirs us to cry out to Him for help. Believing our prayers matter. Believing our prayers make a difference in the natural and spiritual realm.

When evil seems so prevalent and integrated into the world around us, we best be on our knees in desperation, praying for ourselves, for our family and friends, for those affected by such grievous injustices. We need to be people who pray and people who believe that it holds substance before a Holy God, who promises that He is close to those who are broken-hearted and those who are crushed in spirit.

I don’t believe that God has ever wanted us to put on a façade of what’s really going on, when we seek Him. He desires authentic communication from us. He wants us to be open and real about the raw parts of us. He yearns for us to be honest about our troubles, doubts, questions, and heartaches.

God is Faithful.

He hasn’t forgotten about you or your circumstance.

He hasn’t overlooked your heartache or the injustice that you’ve endured.

He is broken and weeps with those who mourn.

He hates all evil.

He is the only One Who can truly save us.

He is the only One Who can bind up our hearts.

The only One Who can bring healing.

The only One Who can conquer death, hatred, and all forms of evil and injustice.

He is our Deliverer.

So, let’s take it all to Him in prayer. Every little bit of wrestling that’s going on in our hearts, minds, and consuming our emotions. Church, let’s be praying.
