“For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.” – Psalm 139:13-14 (NKJV)
I’ve always loved these verses. For many different reasons…
I love the reminder that God is my Creator.
I love the reminder of His power in creativity.
The reminder that He tended to my soul before I ever drew air into my lungs.
The enormity of God.
The mystery.
In the moments when I question who I am, what I believe, or why am I even here… these verses bring me great comfort, knowing that I’m defined by Him.
This calls me to be honest with myself before God.
And we cannot be honest before God if we’re not first honest with ourselves:
- What am I currently believing to be true?
- What am I allowing myself to be defined as?
Being honest with ourselves opens the door for Jesus to do His work. Are we letting His truth be the defining factor in our lives? Or are we choosing a different pathway of beliefs that go against what He says of us?
Regardless of what others say. Regardless of what we’ve done. We must know who we are in Christ.
Do we know who we are? What He says of us?
Because His voice of who we are will resonate with who we are to become.
It’s the voice that gives us Hope and Purpose. It’s the voice that dispels fear, insecurity, and doubt that we really can become all He’s made us to be.
Let His truth define you this morning, as you start your week off…. Knowing He created you. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Does your soul know it well today?
