“But remember this – if you give little, you will get little. A farmer who plants just a few seeds will get only a small crop, but if he plants much, he will reap much. Everyone must make up his mind as to how much he should give. Don’t force anyone to give more than he really wants to, for cheerful givers are the ones God prizes. God is able to make it up to you by giving you everything you need and more so that there will not only be enough for your own needs but plenty left over to give joyfully to others. It is as the Scriptures say: “The godly man gives generously to the poor. His good deeds will be an honor to him forever.” For God, who gives seed to the farmer to plant, and later on good crops to harvest and eat, will give you more and more seed to plant and will make it grow so that you can give away more and more fruit from your harvest. Yes, God will give you much so that you can give away much, and when we take your gifts to those who need them they will break out into thanksgiving and praise to God for your help.”
– 2 Corinthians 9:6-11 (TLB)
Have you ever had the opportunity to meet the need of someone else?
There is such joy that wells up in us when we’re able to share generously with others. No matter how big or how small, when we give with the right heart posture, we can’t help but be filled with gladness. God blesses those who give cheerfully – not necessarily with physical blessings, but always with spiritual ones.
I love that God’s economy, doesn’t operate by human standards. His multiplication blows the mind from being able to comprehend. Just look how five loaves of bread and two small fish fed over 5,000 men, plus women and children too. (ref. Matthew 14:13-21) It logically doesn’t make sense, and that in itself puts a huge smile on my face. When we take what we have and offer it back to God to do with what He please, He uses it to bring about a harvest for others, for us, as He sees fit. Since He is our Provider, even when we don’t have much to give but offer it to Him with a cheerful heart, He will always make sure that our own needs will be met too. I love that He always gives us enough to be able to share with others.
May we be women who know that God alone is our Provider. That we would diligently seek to be generous with what He’s blessed us with, looking to meet the needs of others and then some. May we be reminded of the posture of our heart, praying that God keeps us humble, so that we can give cheerfully as He leads us to work in good deeds. May we be generous, knowing that every good and perfect gift we’ve been given is from our generous Father.
