Checking our Focus

In John chapter 10, Jesus clearly defined His purpose for His followers, in stark contrast to the purpose of the devil. “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (verse 10)

God has a purpose for each one of us. We were thought of intently before we were even born, and each of us designed uniquely, fashioned to live in close proximity to Him and what He has planned for us. When we remember Who created us, and Who we belong to as Jesus followers, our focus operates in a healthy zone. Seeking Him in all things. Praying continually. Allowing our feelings, attitude, and perspective to filter through His design for us, aligning with His Word and His Spirit, we thrive!

But when we take our focus off the One Who gave us life.

Off the One Who saved us.

Off the Living Word of God.

And off the voice and guidance of the Holy Spirit.

We stumble…

Our focus shifts to doubt, fear, pride, and the enemy’s deceptive tactics begin to take root in us.

Sisters, let’s be checking our focus regularly. Looking at the by-product of what we’ve chosen to set our sights on. Is what’s consuming our mind, will, and emotions life-giving? Or is it stealing our joy. Killing our self-worth and destroying our confidence in God?

Sometimes all it takes is for us to expose the root of the enemy’s schemes, in order for our focus to get back on track. We have abundant living set before us… a life full of purpose! Let’s align our focus with who we’re meant to be, firmly rooted on the Word of God and empowered by His Holy Spirit!
