Cast off and Draw Close

It’s a new day.

New week.

New opportunity to draw close to Jesus.

Whatever it is that’s wearing you down or holding you back right now – that you’re bringing with you into this new week - you can breathe in with hope that our God is a God who can carry it all for us.

He restores.

He revives the broken places in our hearts.

He cares.

He sustains.

And there’s great comfort in knowing we don’t walk this journey alone.

Psalm 55:22 tells us to “cast your cares on the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.”

How liberating to “cast” all the worries and struggles we’re holding onto, off of us and to trust that God will take care of all we need. It takes action on our part though, as the word “cast” literally means “to throw off”, “cast off”, “hurl”, “shed”. This is where we shift our thoughts from our burdens, circumstances, and inadequacies, and we seek Jesus for comfort and peace.

What is it that you need to give over to God today?

What we carry, changes the focus of how we think and feel. But regardless of what state our mindsets are at, we can take every opportunity to draw close to Him.

Our loneliness is an invitation to draw close to Jesus.

Our happiness is an invitation to draw close to Jesus.

Our sorrow.

Our selfishness.

Our pain.

Our excitement….

God’s comfort, peace and sustenance are available to each of us as we draw close to Him.

Let’s cast our burdens to God and allow Him to sustain us today.

His promises are true.

He will take care of you!
