Captivated by Love

In Paul’s letter to the church in Ephesus, he outlines a beautiful gospel message - reiterating the amazing gift of grace for all people that they’ve been given. He goes on to pray for them, for Spiritual growth, so that they would know how to live as “Children of the Light”.

Let’s face it, none of us need a lesson on how to live selfishly… it just seems to be ingrained in our fleshly nature. We don’t have to think long to recall the burdens of the world around us. We do however, need to practice love. Learn love. Breathe love. Believe love and soak in the presence of love, in order to pour out love. When we’re captivated by love, we grow in the Spirit, as God reveals the mysteries of His ways to us.

Paul says, “I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.” – Ephesians 3:16-20

God’s love is what makes us strong. It’s the vessel by which we can access the unlimited resources of His power. I believe it’s when we trust in His love, that He draws us into the secret place, where it’s just you and Him, that He intimately reveals to us the mysteries of His ways. When we trust Him to teach us, and silence all other voices, and He gives us the ability to better learn His voice.

It is my prayer that we would be women captivated by His love. Because when we’re captivated by someone, they hold our attention. We’re delighted in them and are drawn to keep going back. Let’s let His love grow us. Change us. Strengthen us and teach us how to show others the difference it’s made in our life.

Our God is an Ephesians 3:20 kind of God, who does “exceedingly abundantly more than we could ask or imagine” and so I know today, that if our heart-cry and prayer is to be a woman that is captivated by all facets of His love, then we can indeed expect to have that prayer answered. We will see Him. We will hear Him. We will know Him intimately and clearly.
