“Blessed is the woman
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
But her delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law she meditates day and night.” – Psalm 1:1-2
I believe there’s a huge temptation – with Christianity becoming overwhelmingly unpopular in our country – to distance ourselves from the Word of God. The great danger in the distancing, is the lack of discernment to know what is godly and what is not. To know what is wise and holy counsel, and what is not. And to know what God actually says of us, what He instructs us to do, versus what the world says of us and what it wants us to do.
We have the privilege of going straight to the Source ourselves. Digging into the Scriptures, with prayer and with the leading of the Holy Spirit, we can find clarity!
I so desperately want to delight in the Words of the Lord. To meditate on what He’s telling me and to have the Truth soak deep into my heart. I want to love Him more today than I did yesterday.
“She shall be like a tree
Planted by the river of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever she does shall prosper.” – Psalm 1:3
God highlights the expectations of His people to obey His commands, which results in a life that is rooted in wisdom. Wisdom has roots that grow down secure in Truth. And abundant fruit will be the visible evidence of our spiritual health to others. Showing what is a truly prosperous life!
“Thank you God for Your Truth found in the Scriptures. Give me a never-ending craving for them – to delight myself in your words. Teach me to meditate on them day and night.”
Blessed is she who delights in the ways of the Lord God, her Saviour.
