“The faithful love of the Lord never ends!
His mercies never cease.
Great is His faithfulness;
His mercies begin afresh each morning.
I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance;
therefore, I will hope in Him!”
The Lord is good to those who depend on Him,
to those who search for Him.
So it is good to wait quietly
for salvation from the Lord.” – Lamentations 3:22-26
When we begin to understand a glimpse of the faithful love that God has for us, and the great extent that He’s gone to in order to have relationship with us, it changes us.
His love changes us.
Jesus is always our hope in this sinful and sorrowful world that we live in, and a continuous lifeline to being rescued by way of His Spirit in us. God’s abiding love is greater than any sin and He has conquered all, so may we simply turn to Him for help. He is faithful to respond and bring fresh mercies each morning as we begin each new day. He gives of Himself to us through each circumstance that we face. What an amazing promise of His presence, as we depend on Him.
Abiding in Christ’s love does not happen because we follow a formula, but because we rest in a relationship. He is always speaking to us, pointing us to His best for us. He is our strength when we’re weak. He fills us with His peace. He fights for us. He lifts us up when we fall. And so. Much. More. But He forces none of it on us – He simply offers. So, will we abide in His love? Will we trust Him in the waiting and put our full dependence on Him alone?
The true inheritance of God’s people is not what we’ll find in the natural realm, in things that are fleeting, or even things awaiting us in heaven… Our inheritance is found in God Himself. In what Jesus has done for us. And in the Spirit He’s given us. What a beautiful inheritance! A love that will never disappoint, perish or fade.
