“How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!” – Romans 10:15 (NLT)
Those that carry the gospel message to a lost world, can be likened to cargo flights delivering food to a starving country. Those on the receiving end of the Good News message have the choice whether to accept the message as nourishment that will change their life and sustain them, or whether they will refuse to accept and continue to wither away.
Jesus is the embodiment of love, hope, and purpose. All people that fully understand what He has done for us, know their purpose is to be the hands and feet of Jesus, to share with those who have not yet heard of or experienced Him. We are the bearers of His Spirit that are literally called to “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that [Jesus has] commanded.” (ref. Matthew 28:19-20)
Every Christian is to be on mission to proclaim the ultimate Truth – there are no exceptions for the Church… our mission continues as long as we have breath in our lungs. If we began to view everyone we come into contact with, as a person who Jesus died for, who conquered death and resurrected to life for, maybe we would start to see the urgency and importance of this mission we’ve been giving to carry out. There is eternal, beautiful, and abundant joy that follows those who hold their assigned mission with great value and necessity. Knowing that souls are being saved and Kingdom work is being done to bring Jesus glory and praise.
Whether we can agree on feet being beautiful or not, the message of hope and love that is at the root of our faith is most beautiful when we recognize how it has changed us and are moved beyond our own experience to share the blessing of the cross and the empty grave with all that are willing to listen. While we can’t force people to listen or surrender to Jesus, we are called to be ready and willing to share at any moment the reason for the hope that we have. (ref. 1Peter 3:15).
May we be women who are listening to the guidance of the Holy Spirit and are ready to move our feet when He directs us to “go and share” the message of Jesus. Let’s be taking this mission assignment seriously and proudly bear the Good News wherever we’re led to go.
