“If we live in the light as He is in the light, we share what we have in God with each other.” – 1 John 1:7
It’s amazing to think of the power of one small light when set in the midst of darkness.
It radiates.
It creates a point that our eyes are drawn to – like any burning flame does.
It’s amazing to think that that’s the same kind of impact we can have in this dark world.
We are the light.
And we have the awesome responsibility of sharing what we have in God, with others.
Community.
Communion.
I grew up in a family where almost every Sunday (as well as other nights throughout the weekend) we had people over. It was like a revolving door in the home I was raised in. It was just what my parents did – regardless if us kids grumbled for having people over AGAIN!
It created in me this… “around the table” concept.
Where people share together.
Experience together.
Grow together.
It’s where life happens.
Joy. Sorrow. Generosity. Laughter. Stories…. Many, many, stories.
It’s also where the Divine was present in a different way. Where His Spirit came and hovered and we could feel it – we could feel His love.
Around the table doesn’t have to be elegant, overflowing with an abundance of food platters on the table and decorated like the cover of a home magazine, but the essentials are those that fill the chairs. The people.
Who’s sitting around your table lately?
Sisters, let’s make sure we’re sharing the light of God with those around us. Making room at the table (maybe even a picnic table) to cultivate community and share in the communion of the greatest love we could ever know – sharing the love of Jesus with others.
