What’s your favourite worship song? Do you have one?
Have you ever thought about what makes it your favourite?
It’s hard for me to choose just one favourite as I have so many. But what I’ve noticed is that there are seasons where a specific song perfectly assigns words to my heart’s cry and that song illuminates an anthem of praise in my heart. As if the author knew the inner most parts of me as they penned the words… and I adopt the lyrics as my own prayer and praise before God. Can you relate? Is there a song you have on repeat, during this season, that describes the current state of your heart?
While worship can be expressed in many forms, there’s power in the words we sing out to God, in our devotion to Him for all that He’s done for us and continues to do. He’s paid the ransom for each of us – through Jesus’ death on the cross, His blood poured out for us. A price we could never repay. The resurrection power of His Spirit is a gift that we have the opportunity to commune with each day. Oh how much He loves us!
For all those who follow Jesus - receiving Him as their Lord and Saviour - we can stand each waking day in gratitude that we have been ransomed. If He never did another thing for us, the incomparable love He showed us, is worth every breath of our praise.
He has ransomed me.
He has ransomed you.
May our hearts pour out in worship today, all the reasons that we love to sing His glorious name and praise Him today.
“Then I will praise you with music on the harp,
Because you are faithful to your promises, O my God.
I will sing praises to you with a lyre,
O Holy One of Israel.
I will shout for joy and sing your praises,
For you have ransomed me.”
- Psalm 71:22-23
