Always in Control

“Those who know Your name put their trust in You, for You, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.” – Psalm 9:10

What we know, is generally where we’ll put our trust. When we’ve experienced God showing up in our life, we cling to the trust that He’ll show up in those ways again. The let-down happens when we expect Him to operate in our ways…or in our timing...and He doesn’t.

This year of unprecedented times, has caused many of us to claim “2020 is one for the history books!” Understandable, for many, and for the different scenarios we find ourselves in. I know quite a few who just want to skip past this year – anxious for it to be over. I totally get this feeling and appreciate the ache that’s behind such a remark. But in the complexity, fear, and confusion of this year, there’s one thing I hope every person walks into the year-to-come with clear confidence: that they know the name of their Creator and He is worthy of their trust.

While there’s so much in life that doesn’t make sense, we can always trust God, in the midst of whatever our situation is. The name that is above all names is always in control… even in the times when we can’t see it. He speaks in the solitude. He provides in the desperation. He calms in the confusion.

Do you know the mercy of the Lord? Have you experienced Him intimately wooing you to trust Him…over and over again?

I love the promise that He’ll never forsake us. He will never neglect those who seek Him. No matter what, we can count on Him.

So today, may we know the name of the Lord intimately. His presence. His power. His sovereignty. That we can trust Him fully, in all situations… in all confusion and worry. He will never fail us. And He is always in control.
