“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purposes for them.” – Romans 8:28
This verse holds great promise! But let’s face it, there are seasons in life where the things we walk through just don’t make sense. We can work as hard as we can, while seeking to align with the Holy Spirit and His leading, and still find ourselves in a state of confusion and discouragement – feeling jolted in a completely different direction than what we thought God was leading us to.
And yet, when things don’t make sense to us, He promises to work all things together for our good. I love that the verse doesn’t say that He’ll work SOME things out… but that He’ll work ALL things together for our good.
Thank goodness He knows what’s best for us… He knows the beginning from the end and the details of what’s in between. If it truly was all up to us, I think we’d be orchestrating a complete mess. There’s something so comforting, and fills me with a sense of security, knowing that God has the details of my life under control. Can you relate?
We’re called to seek God and allow His Spirit to continually draw us to what He wants of us - And in the times when we can’t see what step is next to take, His Word will comfort us and light the path that guides our feet into action. Our job is to trust Him with the details and to never stop following wherever He leads!
Amongst the twists and turns of our journey, one thing will always remain constant – our Lord and Saviour came so we might have life. Through the Spirit of God, we can have a full and beautiful life.
So today, if you’ve been feeling like you’re in a cycle of “one step forward, two steps back” – take heart – God is still in control! What we may view as setbacks, can never stop God from making a way for us to fulfill what He’s called us to do. As followers of Jesus, we’re on mission to impact the world around us by pointing others to the love of Jesus. He alone knows the way… our destiny is in His hands. Keep trusting. Keep following… in all things.
