“Now that we know what we have—Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God—let’s not let it slip through our fingers. We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all—all but the sin. So let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help.” – Hebrews 4:14-16 (Msg)
Since Jesus had a human nature like ours, He is able to empathize with our weakness, even though He never sinned. He walked through the same temptations that we’re faced with… so He gets the struggles that we have. But since He paid the price for our sin, He’s given all who believe in Him the power to come before the throne room of grace to have access to our Heavenly Father. Could you imagine if we let that opportunity slip through our fingers? Could you imagine a life that didn’t access that incredible gift that’s been offered to us?
God’s love is not an abstract phenomenon that we talk about but never experience on our earthly journey… His love is near… always within our reach! His love is as relevant to our needs now, as when Jesus walked the earth in His dusty sandals and met the needs of people He came into contact with face-to-face. He is still the miracle-working God. He is still the Healer. Still the Protector and Provider that we read about in the scriptures. His grace, kindness, and mercy are always in play – waiting for us to come before Him, fully confident of our position we have in Him, and to pour out our every need and plea for His intervention.
He is our Advocate and Intercessor who profoundly loves us and will not lead us astray, but rather shows us mercy and provides help, as He draw us closer into proximity with His Spirit, His Word, and His Truth.
May we be women who hold firmly to the truth and the hope that we have in Jesus – actively believing that He is the Way, the Truth and the hope for an abundant life here and now, and in the life to come. May we approach Him with every need, want and desire, knowing that He cares for all aspects of our lives, and trust that the outcome of His judgement and provision is what is best for our lives. And may we never let the position that we have in Him, that gives us such privileged access to our Creator, slip through our fingers as ones who lives without hope.
