A Prayer for 2022

There’s something about a new year that beckons the remembrance of the grace of God. A fresh start. The freedom to begin again with a clean slate. The reality is that because of Jesus we don’t need to change out our calendars to start on a new trajectory. We’re continually offered the opportunity to begin again – each day, each moment calling us to live a life of surrender to Him. The life of a disciple of Jesus is one that surrenders to being under His leadership as Master of their lives, and one that knows that it is only by His grace that we’re able to bear His name and live for Him.

Paul reminds us in Romans 12 that our lives should be given as living sacrifices to God.

“Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” (ref. Romans 12:2). This is my continual prayer – that God would transform my mind to His Truth, so that I would live a life that worships and honours Him. Jesus tells us in John 4:24 that true worship is those who worship the Father in Spirit and in Truth.

“Jesus said to the people who believed in Him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free.” – John 8:31-32

Responsive Prayer:

“Father, this year I desire to worship You above all else. Keep your Word of Truth planted firmly in me. Give me the mindset to see what is pure and right and holy and just. Keep me focused on the Truth, in a world that desires to write its own version of it, help me to discern the difference. Make me faithful in trusting Your voice, even if that means I feel as though I’m standing alone. Have Your way in my life, Lord. Deliver me from the attacks of the enemy. Transform every area of me that is not of You. I put myself on the altar, as a living sacrifice for You God. I love You, but increase my love for You. In Jesus name, amen.”
