“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.” - Isaiah 9:6-7
In stark contrast to the earthly governments that we know, we have a Saviour King who leads a Kingdom that is far greater than anything we can fully comprehend. Jesus is the King of a judicial system that rules with Righteousness, Justice and Peace. His reign is eternal, it is here and now and forever. This is the child that was born for us. This is the King that was given. Christ, Who not only would take on the sins of the world, but would begin the rule of a government that would place the enemy as His footstool. A humble King who loves each one of us. A King like no other.
For those who have submitted to the authority of Jesus’ reign and Lordship, we all have a part in the Kingdom. We are people assigned by Him to continue the work that He started over 2,000 years ago when He came to earth as a baby. We’re the workmanship, His Ambassadors, purposed to do good in the world, pointing people to Him. (ref. Ephesians 2:10). We’re all welcomed into the family of God and immediately we’re put on assignment – to tell others Who has changed our lives. Our testimony of how Jesus has changed us, is one of the greatest assets we have as children of God. We’re called to speak out and share the hope that we have with others. What better time to share the hope that we have, than at Christmas?
Prayer Prompt
“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” - 1Peter 2:9
“Father, thank You for choosing me to be part of Your Kingdom. Help me to understand and embrace the assignment You’ve given me. Give me opportunity to share with others how You have changed my life. Remind me that Your Kingdom isn’t in the future but is applicable here and now. May I actively be seeking and watching for Your Kingdom to come to earth as it is in Heaven. In Jesus name, amen.”
