What is it that makes you anxious?

What is the process you take to calm the thoughts that are overwhelming?

It is so important for us to see the triggers that often lead to being consumed by those anxious thoughts that infiltrate our minds, are expressed through our emotions and manifest in our bodies… For example, when I’ve overcommitted myself to take on too much in a short period of time, those anxious thoughts and feelings can run rampant. However, recognizing what is at the root of all of it, is critical to addressing all the visible symptoms.

Fear.

We all face it… but do we know what to do with it?

We need to expose it.

And address where it comes from. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” – 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV). The root of fear are lies poured out from the enemy. We need to rebuke it, and trust God to carry us through.

“For I hold you

by your right hand –

I, the LORD your God.

And I say to you,

‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.’”

- Isaiah 41:13 (NLT)

There is never a day, for those who are followers of Jesus, where we do not have the Holy Spirit with us every single place we go, every single situation we journey through, and through every conversation. He promises that He is with us. That He will help. He is not a man that He should lie, but He will fulfill every word that He’s spoken over us. (ref. Numbers 23:19)

Let’s remember the power that we have in Christ, to dispel the lies of the enemy. Let’s trust our Father’s words, that we don’t have to be in fear, for He will indeed help us. Live in light of the promise that He is with us. That we are held by Him, steadying us when we begin to feel overwhelmed.
